It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”
-Dale Carnegie (American lecturer, author, 1888-1955)

More than any other factor, peace of mind is essential for leading a satisfying and productive life.  For many individuals, however, psychic tranquility remains an unfamiliar or elusive concept.  We frequently ignore our psychological needs in order to manage the more material aspects of our lives.  We repeat the same mistakes, thought patterns, and counter-productive behaviors without realizing that these are all treatable symptoms of psychic illness.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF MENTAL DISORDER?

When the human psyche is not functioning properly, it is normal for the brain to exhibit symptoms just like any other part of the human body.  As in other types of illness, these psychological signals tell us there is a problem that needs attention. Some very common symptoms include:

Anxiety or excess worry

Sadness
Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities

Insomnia
Anger

Sluggishness or fatigue
Poor concentration

Panic Attacks
Hopelessness

Forgetfulness
Loneliness

Multiple recurring physical complaints, such as headaches, muscle tension, abdominal pain, or dizziness
Difficulty maintaining relationships of employment
Jealousy or frequently comparing oneself to others

Difficulty relating to others

Weight or appetite changes

The good news is there are multiple treatment options for all of these symptoms.   A combination of medication management and/or psychotherapy proves useful for most individuals.  When you come to my office I will take the requisite time to gain a comprehensive understanding of your symptoms and to develop an appropriate treatment plan based on your specific symptoms and goals.  My services include a multidimensional psychosocial evaluation, individual or family/couples psychotherapy, and medication management of acute symptoms as necessary.  All services are provided in a warm, compassionate, and confidential setting.

If you are serious about helping yourself or your loved ones and are seeking the best treatment available, please call or email me for further information.
